This is a large, suckering somewhat messy looking palm that takes up a huge amount of room- not for most yards. Also pretty tropical in its needs. Survives in zone 10a, but really struggles and looks bad. For Californians, this is really not a good species for this state. Monocarpic, but since a suckering palm, only part of the palms dies at flowering- and flowers likea Caryota- all up the trunk finishing at the top- entire flowering time can take many years per trunk. Leafletss are premorse (have that bitten off look at their ends) and have silvery undersides. As name suggests, from Australia.
