This is a very common climber over the sandy plains on the brazilian coast. The vegetation on these places are mostly bushy, and almost every bush has this plant growing on them.

It has alternate, composite leaves with toothed margins. It blooms repeatedly, alternating numerous male and female flowers on the same inflorescence. Both flower types are very small and white. The fruits are atractive red, winged capsules with three seeds. The seeds are smooth, black, with a white coat on the base making it look like a small black eye.

It doesn“t demand much if you live on the coast, have a sandy soil, full sun light condition, a place to climb, and can avoid frosts and snow. Water regularly.
