Solitary tree Chamaedorea from Mexico that has a good deal of sun tolerance (for a Chamaedorea), but still does best if given some protection from mid day blasting sun. This palm has a thin, bamboo-like trunk and thin, glaucous, sparse leaflets that are slightly plumose in arrangement. It looks a bit like Chamaedorea plumosa, but is a slower grower, a bit more glaucous and less tolerant of full sun. These plants, like most Chamaedoreas, or dioecious, so you need one of each sex to make viable seed.
