This plant barely gets by in my yard here in 10a, and gets burned often. The yellow variety is so beautiful it is worth protecting it. Neither the green or yellow varieties stand a long term chance in Tampa or Orlando.

These can be grown along the coast of southern California as long as it is out of frost, and low temperatures. It is cool tolerant and grows very slowly, but it is truly a zone 11 palm, and zone 11 is in CA. In Florida they can grow all the way up to Orlando, and have more tolerance of frost because the hotter climate, but in orlando a strong cold front will kill them, but for 6 or 7 years they would be fine.

This is the same species, just a golden form having yellow-green leaves and a yellow to golden- colored crownshaft.

Contrary to others opinions, this palm canNOT survive in California anywhere (except indoors). And there is NO zone 11 in California, either.
