Please note that the confusing name listed here of "Ragged Robin" (a name I have never heard this plant called!) has led to someone posting pictures of the plant which IS typically called "Ragged Robin," and thus the photos here are of Lychnis flos-cuculi. For photos of Clarkia pulchella, please do a Google image search.

On to the plant: I direct-seed this along with the much more common 'Mountain Garland' species of clarkia. This isn't as dramatic a presence in the garden as the flower-loaded Mountain Garland clarkia, which perhaps is why it is not as common. As I wrote in my comment for Mountain Garland clarkia, that clarkia typically dies partway through the summer for me (though others have reported great success at having it last through hot summers). This clarkia tends to start blooming around the time my other clarkias die off. I love clarkias, so it is beautiful to have a continuation of their unusual flowers in the garden. This clarkia's flowers are less numerous and a bit subtler than Mountain Garland's, and I love the variation on the clarkia theme that they bring to my garden. I highly recommend this plant for others who love clarkias.
