This is a vine with thin leaves that is a member of the Morning Glory family (Convolvulaceae). It is native to swamps (including cypress and hardwood swamps), ditches, marshes and brackish and salt marshes in the southeastern United States from coastal North Carolina south through Florida, west along the Gulf coast into Texas (zones 8a through 11).

The flowers are usually pink or light pink with a darker center. They are also medium-sized.

Synonyms are Convolvulus sagittifolius Michx., Convolvulus speciosus Walter, Convolvulus wheleri Vahl, Ipomoea sagittifolia KerGawl. and Ipomoea speciosa Walter ex Small.
