This is my favorite onion. You really can eat it like an apple. It is so juicy that you'd even have it running down your chin! Don't grow any more than you can eat in a month, because that is about all they will keep. Onions bother my eyes more than most people's; my eyes not only water, but burn so bad that I can't open them for several minutes. These had a minimal reaction.

Info from my seed packet. No personal experience with this onion yet.
"This is an Heirloom variety, brought to Walla Walla, Washington from Corsica at the turn of the 20th century. A large (4-5") sweet Spanish onion with light brown skin and mild, white flesh. Long day type. Not a storage onion. Needs 1 inch of water per week to develop a sizable bulb.

In mild climates, best suited for sowing in late summer for harvest in early summer of the following year. In short-season areas, start indoors late February to early March. Transplant 10 weeks later into row 6-8 inches apart.

Soil temp for germ = 50-85 degress F, days to germ = 4-13, plant spacing = 5-7", days to maruity = 100-110, full sun and a lot of water."

A sweet long day onion available from multiple sources. Description from Henry Fields "Mild enough to eat like an apple! Non-pungent aroma, too. Grows to 4 inches across. Long day. 115 days." Acording to Walla there are 60 commercial growers in the Walla Walla Growers Association.
