Mammillaria leona was made into a synonym of M. pottsii.
They seem to be closely related to each other but look very different, One with white spines and deep red/brown flowers (M. leona).
And the one pictured in my book and in the PlantFiles have darker spines and Purple/Violet and white flowers which are larger and open wider (M. pottsii).
Both grow tube-like.
