smooth, globoid, bright green, minimally spined cactus that is slow to sucker... grows up to 8" in diameter. From S Brazil, and nearby countries. Summer grower so careful with water in winter. Keep out of hot, direct sun or will burn badly... though I have seen some old examples in Huntington gardens in southern California in full, hot, blazing afternoon sun taking it well, just bronzing a bit.
