I have been growing a calamondin for the last 3 years in a teak orangery planter on my patio. The white flowers are very fragrant and the habit and form is quite beautiful. At Christmastime last year there were so many fruit that it looked like a decorated Christmas tree. I have been so impressed with its performance I recently purchased a variegated form to see how it will do. My plants are always in full sun, they are kept quite moist, and I fertilize on a schedule of every 2 months with citrus fertilizer. It is one of my favorite plants in the garden.
I am originally from the Midwest and had never heard of this plant until we moved to Houston and my native Floridian husband saw it during a nursery visit and recommended that we purchase it. What a great surprise it has been!

Phenomenal flavor... kind of like a fresh fruity juicy Altoid Tangerine sour candy. Flavor your water, marinade fish... Almost anywhere you could use a lemon or lime you can substitute a calamondin (makes great preserves). You get 2 to 3 flushes of fruit a year, it's cold hardy to the low 20's and high teens, and it's compact enough to fit in most every garden. Beautiful to look at and draws bees and other beneficials like a magnet when it blooms. Can't recommend it enough!

Growing well, but I didn't plant it in a sunny enough location so it's not fruiting.
