There are widely conflicting reports as to this tree's hardiness rating, though if its like its North American cousin, the Kentucky Coffee Tree, it should be hardy to Zone 4. I ordered and germinated several seeds late this summer and am trial planting two 6 week old seedlings outside. I live in Zone 5b in Colorado at an elevation of 6,200 ft. Thus far, notable traits are fast growth and beautiful purple coloring on the leaves and stem.
