'Aurantiaca' winterberry is a very good shrub to add to the winter fruiting landscape. Birds do not take the orangey-red maturing to orange-yellow fruits, so the display lasts well into February in KY.

'Aurantiaca' winterberry fruits contrast well with the normal reds found in Ilex verticillata, and show up better at a distance especially when backed by evergreens or some other dark feature.

As with all winterberries, 'Aurantiaca' will prefer wetter conditions and soils with an acid reaction (though performing fine in KY on circumneutral clay soils).
