This tree produces extraordinary fall color! It's common name serves its purpose! It does well here in the high deserts of Southern California as long as it gets plenty of water during its first couple years after planting. It takes the summer heat exceptionally well since we barely get over 100 F in summer. Leaves are light to medium green during the Spring and Summer and they turn a light red to a dark red in the fall. Awesome tree to have in the yard.
