Among the over 1000 named ornamental crabapples, 'David' is not only in the top ten but it has had the staying power of 50 years. It was selected and named in 1957 by Arie den Boer, and hasn't looked back.

Pink in bud, pinkish white in flower, clean of foliage (resistant to the major foliar diseases that plague the old-line varieties), and bearing heavy crops of small scarlet fruit that persist through the winter, 'David' has stood the test of time in research trials and in the landscape.
