This was my first attempt growing pumpkins. I grew this type specifically for the shape, which I thought would make attractive jack-o-lanterns.

As an absolute beginner, one huge mistake I made was not cultivating a large enough area for the vine. It's vine is described as "semi-full", which didn't really give me much indication of what size to expect. No matter, though--it had no problem growing directly into the lawn and grew to 8 to 10 feet. I ended up with three pumpkins despite my mistakes, the largest weighing approximately 16lbs. The fruit seemed slow to set, possibly due to the unusually cool weather. Frost killed the vine before they could ripen completely.

The blurb for this pumpkin said that it is "powdery mildew tolerant;" however, with the cool, damp summer we had this year, mine developed it anyways.

This pumpkin has a lovely shape, and should I choose to grow jack-o-lanterns again, I will choose this. I will be better prepared for it next time!
