Ive had this plant for about five years. It has pritty, dainty, pale blue-white flowers in early spring. Can look a tad weedy after flowering. Needs good drainage, partial sun, and adequite moisture. Mine has formed a very large mound. Have had problems with some of the stems rotting; ive found that separating it almost every-other year helps to prevent this though. Slugs like to nest in it, but dont seem to be actually interested in eating it.

Gentian Speedwell is a low to mid-height erect perennial. It is fast-growing, spreads from the creeping roots, needs little care, and has a long life-span. It has dense, compact semi-evergreen foliage. Small pale blue blooms appear on stalks above the plant in early spring.

Relatively fertile, moist, well-drained soil is best, similar to the open woodland meadows where it grows in nature (Crimea, Caucasus, Northern & Central Turkey). This plant looks best in groupings, so plant where it can spread and naturalize.

Greenville, Indiana
Roslindale, Massachusetts
Florence, Mississippi
Skaneateles, New York
Spokane, Washington
