This is one of five wintergreens native to New Zealand. There, they are are called 'snowberry'. This larger species is probably one of the most showy as it produces abundant spikes of white flowers that cover the tops of the shrubs. The New Zealand species can all tolerate more sun than those elsewhere in Eurasia or North America. May be difficult to find but very desireable.
