It is believed that this selection arose as a sport of 'Bloodgood'. It's foliage is very similar to 'Bloodgood' but is perhaps a bit more deeply divided. The plant forms a dense, twiggy bush to 2 m. It is suitable for containers and bonsai or for the back of a rockery. Like 'Bloodgood', the summer leaves are purple-red and the fall colour is blazing scarlet.
