This is a new palm that has not come into cultivation that I know. It is given the nickname "Noodle Palm" because of the wormy, noodle-like inflorescense described. It made for a nice article in the Miami Herald a while back.

Positive palmbob On Dec 2, 2004, palmbob from Tarzana, CA (Zone 9b) wrote:

recently described species named after a 'wormy' looking flower structure. Has a very ornamental white tomentum on the ringed trunk- unusual for a Syagrus. Relatively fast growing species- not yet tried in southern California (that I know of) so cold hardiness not known. Only specimens I have seen are in Miami Florida.
