This is a giant heliconia, over 12 feet. The flowers are pendant and quite long (2 feet or more). The bracts are short and thick and barely overlap. the base of the bracts are yellow but most of the bract is red. The spikes twist as they hang so that the bracts (flowers) are placed in a spiral pattern rather than two-dimensional. Quite showy!
