We have had this plant in our garden in Surrey, B.C. since we bought the house 17 years ago. The couple that owned the house previously had planted it behind a Mountain Ash tree so that it doesn't get much sun and the tree slurps up all the nutrients from the soil. Because it is out of sight for most of the year, going completely dormant once it has finished flowering, it does not get watered very often either. I must say that few other plants would continue to bloom like this with so little care and attention. Very good for a beginning gardener.

This is the most common cultivar of Leopard's Bane offered in my area. The plants are a bit more compact than the straight species. Wonderful touch of yellow for the spring garden and attractive to early emerging butterflies.
