I have just found a yellow cultivar of this genus. "Melongolly Yellow" has pretty much the same features as the blue cultivar except yellow blooms. I purchased rather leggy 6 plants from my nursery. I like they way they look in my deck pots, although they might be more suitable in a rock wall. I hope they fill in now that they can spread their roots a bit.

Compact, airy plant forms neat mounds of dainty blue flowers all summer. Thrives in the stifling heat of our North Texas summers. Excellent choice for mixed container plantings as well as massed in beds and borders. Plant Patent #15934

Update - Dec. 30, 2006: Has survived without protection four nights in the mid to lower 20s (F) and at least another four below freezing.

Update - Aug. 11, 2009: My original plant is still growing and blooming. Has not been given protection from cold (down to mid-teens (F)) nor supplemental irrigation during prolonged dry periods. Has not grown much beyond 2 ft. in height. and width.
