In this species, both the oval leaves and the cup-shaped flowers have long stems, often 2" or more. Borne in spring, the white or pinkish flowers have heart-shaped, dark-spotted petals. Although they are 1 1/2" in diameter, the whole plant is quite short, usually no more tha 4" tall.
