Started these from seed (Select Seeds) and had a good germination rate. When I planted them out, they had about 4-5 leaves each, and plants that small usually burn up. These didn't.

The bed they were in had a black, porous covering and they only got sunlight during the 4 hottest hours of the day. This year in Northern Utah, we had about a dozen days in the triple digits (average is three), but these guys weren't fazed a bit.

In that same bed, the annuals either languished from lack of sunlight or burned up. The Nicotianas were the only ones that looked happy and healthy.
