Located at the edge of a pond with full afternoon shade in Zone 10a. Great humidity provided by a waterfall, but some leaf burn during the warmest part of the summer (90-110F).

May 2008
This little maple had a difficult time with our move. It was growing on the edge of the pond and had squeezed down between the liner and the soil. No choice but to try to save it before the bulldozers arrived. A year later it is recovering and looks like it will survive the trauma.
