Hybrid between xsternii(argutifoliusxlividus) and niger. Handsome leathery green palmate foliage with silver veining. Very early bloom (Feb. in the northwest). XSternii parent less hardy - zone 6 with 'good protection'. Some remove old foliage before bloom for looks.
