This plant thrives in the humid environment of a terrarium. The common name "sensitive plant" is also attached to Mimosa pudica. They are similar in appearance, and both react to touch by folding their leaflets downward. This is a good plant for a miniature garden if you are looking for something that looks like a mini palm tree.

I've found it grows best is groups. If you keep the soil moist, it self-sows readily. I've also seen it do well planted (in groups) at the base of taller tropicals. The first sign that it's not at peak health is that the leaves stop reacting to touch. The roots are very delicate. When you can keep it healthy, it's a very satisfying specimen.
