This Palmatum Group maple is classified as a 'flowering maple', valued for its spring colour. This selection had spring leaves that are bright crimson. By mid-summer the leaves turn bronze-green but become red again come autumn. The growth habit is twiggy and dense. The cultivar has been known since at least 1710!
