The cylindrical stems of the silverlace cob cactus are commonly solitary, but are occasionally branched into clumps with up to a dozen stems. The spines are dense, obscuring the stems, and are white to gray with bluish to reddish tips.
The flowers are pink and up to about 1.5" across. They bloom in April and May and following summer showers. The mature fruits are red and nearly 1" long.
