Native to California. Commonly found in San Diego and the southern part of the state, in chapparal up to 4000 feet. Prefers slopes.

Medium blue flowers in Spring. The smooth, rounded leaves are not shiny like many Ceanothus. Larger stems are white. Can get very large.
