This Lilac is about six years old - finally flowered last year.
Sensation is distinctive for it's dark purple flower with a bright white picotee edge. Short blooming period in mid-spring, the blossoms smell wonderful!
It took about 5 years to reach bloom size but it is now a very welcome sign of spring in my garden.
Waited two years for this beauty to finally flower...and the fragrance is as wonderful as the plant is beautiful.
Huge blossoms, fabulous color. Needs lots of sun to bloom properly.

Sensation Lilac - Syringa vulgaris 'sensation'
My favorite syringa!!!
Sensation has been known to produce some branches of blooms with just the cream edging color (right)
My yard, 2009
The contrasting white edging on this purple lilac make it stand out. It took two years for these lovely blooms to appear, however, it was well worth the wait.
A rainy-day shot.
