According to my research, the species c. lutchuensis is the earliest known fragrant camellia from China
Uniquely different, dainty white blooms, small pointed leaves and tiny seed capsules. It has been used extensively since the early 1960's as a breeding parent in efforts to create more fragrant hybrids.
