The first to bloom in our garden each year.
The spathes from which the buds emerge are papery, the flowers are a light shade of purple.

A day old blossom of Sweet Iris, taken in full sun. The flower color changes as the bloom ages, greyed but still very fragrant! The top petals collapse into its center as it passes.
