Texas native wildflower that blooms in mid March.
First bloom of the season in zone 8a (mid-march)
This violet forms nice clumps that are very pretty in the spring. It prefers more sun than many of the other native violets here in Missouri. Beware of it, though, it self sows prolifically.
Wild Violet, came up in my yard.
V. missouriensis growin in a quad in Houston. This population only receives direct sun early in the day.
