"Platanus occidentalis sycamore has thin bark that flakes which gives the trunk a mottled appearance with irregular brown, gray, white and green patches. This is the bark of the same tree, but higher up than the first photo. In the fall and winter, the tree's bark provides interest in the landscape. (San Antonio, Tx.)"
