This is a picture of hamelia grown in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It loves the hot, humid climate here and is quite prolific! I grow it from cuttings!

Even though it says full sun I have one in part shade it it does very well. They need good drainage, humming birds love it. If they are damaged by frost they will come back in spring.

It has grown much larger than I had expected when I planted it here. This is after I trimmed it and the lantanas back a month and a half before the photo was taken.Just starting to bloom.(San Antonio, Tx.)
The Mexican firebush foliage changes colors in the fall. It usually begins in the middle or at the end of October, intensifies in November (as shown here) and lasts until the first hard freeze when it dies back. (San Antonio, Tx.)

I was so struck to find these black olive-like berries on my bushes! Hamelia patens is a terrific addition to the Texas garden!
Hurricane Wilma fell my 20' tree, after cutting it down I left the stump. This is what has grown in 4 months from the stump.
