I shouldnīt do that... but I have this huge pot full of water (formerly, an algae and aquatic fungi culture medium...), and got a Water Hyacinth in hands... I just had to try to grow it. Itīs doing great o far! Rio de Janeiro.
Beautiful pale lavender blooms.
Great water filter.Very aggressive, but not a problem in northern ponds.

My plant got a rather long flower spike. It came from nothing and became a full inflorescence in 3 days!. Rio de Janeiro, early summer.
A very beautiful plant. Must be contained. It does make good mulch. We leave 1/4 of our 15' X 60' Water Lily pond covered with Hyacinth. It keeps the water clean and clear. When it spreads out of bounds, we mulch.
