Yellow flowers open at sundown as if spring-loaded. Interesting lancelike foliage sprays out in a basal rosette resembling those of the dandelion.
I've got this from my 90 grandma, What I do know that it is a self seeder, it like loose sandy soil. It only blooms when the sun goes down and the mercury light is on about 10 min's. The flower only last one night, and it's done
The Evening Primrose or "Nine-O-Clock" springs open at nine p.m. in West Virginia, just at dusk. The Hummingbird Moths search it out to feed on. The opening is fascinating to watch - like magic! These plants will self seed.
