"A member of the Snapdragon family (Scrophulariaceae). A stocky biennial that can reach a height of 6' with large, woolly leaves and a spike of densly packed yellow flowers. The 1st year leaves form a basal rosette with each leaf up to 1' long. The 2nd year, a flower stalk emerges with alternate leaves scattered along the stem. The short, tubular flowers open to about 1" across with 5 yellow lobes. Native of Europe. Sometimes referred to as "poor man's toilet paper.""
