"Biennial with large taproot and stout, branching, hairy stems to 4' tall. Tint white flowers tightly grouped in clusters, which in turn form a larger umbrella-shaped cluster about 4" across. As flowers fade, the featherlike stalks curl into a tight bird-nest shape supporting numerous oval, bristly, dried fruits that are up to 1/3" long. Blooms May through Oct."
