Royal Robe as it appears when it displays a more fully pigmented limb, glowey light fuschia throat with nicely mottled shading towards the outer edge of the flower
The pink mutation shows the star much better, but isn't as pretty, in my opinion.
Just another view of this very pretty Morning Glory
Flowers are dark blue with a slightly paler star in the center. This one just opened, so you can't really see the star well at this point...
Royal Robe Original cultivar...this flower can produce a 5 or 10 pointed star on the same vine and can appear much darker without a visible star depending on phenotype, physiological individuals, weather, growing conditions and time of day
The Royal Robe fully pigmented a darker blue ... main ribtips extending as star-like points into the white edged margin... added highlites by the outer edges partial shading...
The colors are mesmerizing!
Fantastic blue-purple flower maker!
STAR OF INDIA Japanese Morning Glory Blooms. Very rich, deep purple color with striking white edging. Grown in Central FLA, Summer 2006.
This photo was taken in the AM and was just gorgeous. Was an unexpected surprise as it was labeled wrong.
Photo at 4 PM... You can see how the time of day affects the colors and design.
