All parts of this plant are toxic to humans.
Pokeweed will overwinter here in zone 7a. This is a shot of new growth on old roots.

This plant has grown into a 7 foot tree. In one of the driest years ever, it is loaded with berries. I have watched the birds harvest strips of berries and pluck the fruit off.
