Definition of botanical name

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by paulgrow:

The plant name using the binomial nomenclature method of identifing plants.

Definition as written by Terry:

Sometimes gardeners refer to the botanical name of a plant as its Latin name although many names are derived from Greek as well as Latin.

Every plant that has been documented has one botanical name that is universally recognized. They're sometimes difficult to say and spell, but they are much more precise and accurate than a plant's common name
