A means of asexual propagation that involves rooting the stem of a plant without completely detaching it from its original root system.

Definition as written by talinum:

It involves wounding the stem and then packing the wound with damp sphagnum moss, held in place and kept from drying by wrapping in plastic. When roots show, the branch can be severed and planted. Also known as Chinese layering or marcottage.
