The larvae of various flies, moths and beetles. It burrows into the leaf tissue, leaving meandering trails in its wake. The damage is mostly cosmetic, but can be unsightly. Traditional pesticides are most commonly used to treat outbreaks; in vegetable gardens the use of floating row covers can provide an effective barrier against leaf miners.
