Definition as written by Terry:

A mainstay of most gardeners, pruners are necessary for trimming excess growth from plants, small suckers from trees and shrubs, and for taking cuttings for propagation

Pruners come in two basic styles - anvil pruners and bypass pruners - see also secateurs

Definition as written by darius:

Micro-tip Pruning Snips:

Mine are made by Fiskars, 6" overall with a blade of 1-3/4". Great for deadheading or cuttinselect flowers.
