Definition as written by Terry:

A fanciful garden planting scheme using hedges planted and trained to form a series of winding paths, some of which lead to dead-ends.

A maze can be kept clipped low enough to allow the visitor a chance to admire and easily naviage the intricate planting scheme, or high enough to prevent one from seeing the path that leads to the exit.
