Definition of aggregate

The word basically means a collection of things held closely together.

In botany, it is used to refer to a flower that is composed of many florets, as in feverfew (an "aggregate bloom"), or a fruit composed of many carpels like raspberries (an "aggregate fruit").

In gardening, it may be used in reference to a type of gravel or coarse sand.
