Definition as written by gardenwife:

AKA volunteer seedling. A seedling which sprouts unexpectedly in a surprise location. Birds and animals often "plant" them in their droppings, or the seeds are carried by wind or humans to new locations.

Definition as written by Magpye:

Although this could be your best friend, helping out once in a while in the garden, this is a \'not planted\' specimen blown in from a neighbor\'s yard or a surprise, from a bird or other source.
