Any of several woody tropical grasses with hollow stems. Typically from tropical climates, bamboo plants are botanically organized in the Arundinaria, Bambusa, Dendrocalamus Phyllostachys, and Sasa genera.

In addition to being a foodsource, the canes of many bamboo are used for furniture, flooring, rafts, fishing poles, etc.

In the garden, bamboo poles are often used for trellises and to make water features.
